Arleta Wilt and Luanne Frosch, juniors at York Community High School and members of the Varsity Band, were chosen for the Summer Music Camp at Western Illinois University Macomb from June 26 to July 2 sponsored by the Thomson Woman's Club. Arleta plays the tuba and earned a Superior solo rating. Luanne plays the clarinet with an Excellent solo rating. Dick Sloan was named as alternate.

Benefit Game Raises Over 130 For Band Instrument and Cheer Gear
Saturday's benefit basketball game at the high school gym raised over 130 dollars to buy a band instrument in memory of Linda Jean Marken. The cheerleaders added over 50 from halftime cake walk and postgame dance funds to their outfit fund. Thomson High seniors defeated Post High School 78 to 72. The Post High lineup included the Prins brothers and several others. seniors for Thomson included Ray and Gene Fissens and Jim Dykstra among others. Referees Bud Bull and Jr. St. Ores oversaw the ten minute quarters exerting five minute periods.

Audrey Herrity, 69, of Clinton Iowa died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital. Requiem mass was held at St Mary's church with burial in Clinton Memorial Park. Born April 1 1896 in Thomson Illinois she lived in Clinton fifty years and belonged to St Mary's. She married Robert H Herrity in 1916. Survived by daughter Betty Claussen son Robert T sister Winnie Wolff brother Glen eight grandchildren two nephews.

Adams to Celebrate 90th Birthday in Thomson
W. A. Adams of Thomson will celebrate his 90th birthday on Monday, April 4. He worked for the Milwaukee railroad as a ticket agent in Thom son, Paw Paw, lickory Grove and Byron. Local Ceramic Show Winners Highlight Davenport Event
Mr and Mrs Myles Haas attended the Mississippi Valley Ceramic Show at the Davenport Masonic Temple with Mrs Haas winning two first prizes for a gingham dog and calico cat in stains and a centerpiece with wood fiber flowers.
