The Carroll County Woman's Club Spring Conference will be held Tuesday April 5 at York Baptist church Thomson. Registration at 10 AM, call to order 10 30 AM. Junior and senior members of York Community High School’s basketball squad, led by Coach Bud Burton and Burton Prins, attended the 1966 State Basketball tournament in Champaign Urbana last Friday and Saturday. Overnight hosts were Harlan Hoff and Jerry Geddes at the University. Attendees included Ray Bissens Gene Frinsens Dave Daehler Ron Dykstra Jim Hartman Jon Cate Dick Sloan and Ward Dittmar.
Mr and Mrs Francis Hoff of Thomson announce the stillborn son of their daughter Mary Ann Hoff and Sp 5 and Mrs John E Bender born March 15 at the Baumholder military base hospital in Germany where Sp 5 Bender is stationed. The infant Stephen Allen was shipped to San Bruno California for burial. A surviving brother Brian is named.

Gordon Brown Fulton Maude Brown Harriett visited Mayme Curley Hanover. Willie Leopold Amelia Sack visited Clyde George Grandview.
Norman D. French of Thomson graduated from York Community High School in 1941 and earned B S M S and Ph D at the University of Illinois Urbana. He served in the U S Army 1942–45 and taught economics at Kansas State University fourteen years before joining Indiana State University as associate professor in 1965. His publications include works on Kansas manufacturers the Kansas River Valley and durable goods demand in Europe.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde George were surprised Saturday evening at the Harold Feddersen home as friends gathered for a birthday celebration. Prizes were won by the Georges and the Leavenses, and a decorated cake topped a late lunch served by Mrs. Feddersen.
Mrs. R. C. Bush PTA Health chairman reminds parents of the second diphtheria tetanus and whooping cough vaccination a 9 AM next Tuesday March 29 at the grade school. Shots cost $1.00 and pre school children should attend. For questions call 259-3446.
Mr and Mrs Mervin Marchall and Miss Barbara Plapp with Wynne Ventting dined with Mrs Luella Heitman Tuesday. Charles Green and boys of Stockton visited Rus sel Green Sr. Jesse Brock of Savanna called on Edna Roggendorf. Don Green of Michorn will receive the Thomson Review as a gift from sister Mrs William Nagel of Futon. John Johnson Alberta and Linda dined with Duane Law family. Lloyd Johnson and family also visited. Teresa Law celebrated her fifth birthday.
The list notes patients treated this week across area hospitals. Mrs Earle Mailand stayed at Jane Lamb Hospital from Saturday to Tuesday as a medical patient. Phyllis Buikema, daughter of Mr and Mrs John H Buikema, had a tonsillectomy at Freeport Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning. Roger Kohn was an overnight patient at Savannah Hospital for a work injury. Mrs Fred Whitney of Riverview is a medical patient at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton.
Judith Ann Cate daughter of Mr and Mrs Millard Cate of Thomson and Donald J R Nichols son of Mr and Mrs Donald M Nichols of Savanna were married at 11 AM Saturday March 19 at St Johns Catholic church Savanna. Father Francis Kennedy officiated. Attendants were Mrs Jan Bristol and Ed Athhouse. The bride wore a chantilly lace gown with a Swedish crown veil and carried pink roses and lillies of the valley. The bride’s attendant wore a pink sheath and bouquet of pink and white carnations. A reception for immediate families followed at the bride’s home. The bride is a 1965 York Community high school graduate employed at National Lock Co in Savanna. The groom will work at Valves and Control Co in Savanna.
A poot nuptial shower was held Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Herbert Badtke in Morricon for Mrs. Daniel Wiebenga formerly Aleda McGinty of Thomson. Attendees included Mrs. Richard McGinty and Mrs. Dora Weebenga of Thomson. The bride received many gifts and a luncheon was served.
The Review reports George Warfields now at Hickory Point Trailer Park in Tarpon Springs after living in Homestead St James City and St. Petersburg. Paul Holfhausers north of Thomson on Route 84 spent two winters here as did the Tousleys. Mrs Paul Miles of Savanna lies at Clearwater and likes it.
Way'and Buzz Bennett is hired by the Thomson village board as village marshal to replace Jake Baker who retires from the position on March.
Funeral services for Samuel F E Fox 82 of Riverview were held at 1 30 PM Saturday at Law funeral home. He died suddenly last Thursday at his home. Burial in Savanna township cemetery. Born October 16 1883 in Madison Wisconsin he married Olga Trautman in San Francisco 1915. A retired chief petty officer he served in the Boxer rebellion and both World Wars. Survived by wife a daughter Mrs James Walbert five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mr and Mrs Leslie Grim hosted a Saturday birthday supper honoring their son May Allen on his tenth birthday. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Larry Grim and family Clinton Mr and Mrs Claude Grim Mrs Lola Rice and Julie Mrs Jim Skimhorn and Todd Kara Lou and Patti Ann Grim.

Janet Hebeler joined a Sunday dinner with the Halfman family. Bruce Sikkema and family moved into the Joe Sikkema farm house while the Smiths relocated to the Lyle Law farm near Mt Carroll. A E Mitchell of Morrison and Mrs Ben Wagner called on the Weis family of Argo Fay Sunday.

The first monthly meeting of Neighborhood Cadette Troop 52 held March 22 in Interstate Power rooms Savanna. Thirty girls from Hanover Mt Carroll Savanna and Thomson organized four patrols planned camping and a possible overnight April 26 in Savanna.
Five men filed petitions for school board seats in Themcon schools. Incumbents Elmer Hans and Clifford Dykstra seek York Community High School Dist No 201 seats. Lyle Ashby also runs. Thomson Grade School Dist No 174 elects two, Sebert Dykstra runs. Eugene Halfman not seeking re election. Paul Daniels runs after last year’s defeat. Election is Saturday April 9 from noon to 7 PM.
Mrs. Marion Wheeler and Mrs. Margaret Murray attended the Tinois Educational Association meeting as delegates held Monday in Prophetstown. Ben White of South Dakota was a Tuesday dinner guest with Mr. and Mrs. James Morrison. William Yamm Jr. of Chicago visited several days last week with his sister and brother-man, Mr. and Mrs. P. K. McGinnis Sr., and family.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at York Baptist Church Thomson for Mrs Jennie Griswold 73 who died Monday in Jane Lamb Hospital Clinton after a long illness. A service in the church parlor preceded the rites Rev Emer W Grafft officiated with Fay Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in Lower York cemetery. She is survived by two daughters Sylvia Witt Thomson and Lucille Eslinger Clinton, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. She was born June 29 1892 in Ustick Township Whiteside County Illinois, married William Griswold Feb 8 1911, lived east of Morrison before moving to Thomson in 1938.
