County Meat Bargaining Committee from 61 counties in Illinois Wisconsin and Iowa met in Waterloo Iowa on Friday March 16 to set prices for beef pork and lamb that NFCO representatives will present to processors later. Established NFCO areas already met with processors and the prices set include 32.45 dollars per hundred weight for choice beef and 22.75 dollars per hundred for No 2 hogs.

Mrs. Robert Livengood Dies After Lingering Illness

Mrs. Robert Livengood of Lanark died Tuesday morning at Memorial hospital Freeport after a six week illness. Born August 17 1891 in Sunnyside Georgia she moved to the area as a child. She married Oscar Isenberger who died in 1918 and later married Robert M Livengood March 18 1920. Surviving are her husband a son several daughters and many relatives. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Thursday at Frank funeral home Lanark with burial in Lanark cemetery.

Daryle Rockafellow Holsteins led Unit 3 with 1183 lbs milk and 44.7 lbs fat in February. Two Rockafellow cows ranked among the month’s top five individual producers, including 1984 lbs milk and 87 lbs fat and 2010 lbs milk and 78 lbs fat. Elderly Man Proves Fast On His Feet

William M. Long, 88, of rural Mt Carroll, crossed railroad tracks as a northbound car stalled. An eastbound freight about 50 mph rounded the curve 300 yards away. Long leaped clear, his car demolished. He was struck by debris but unharmed.

At the Carroll County Livestock Feeders Association annual meeting on March 15 in the Thomson school gym Elmer Hans of Thomson was re elected president. Loren Martz Lanark was named vice president and Robert McKean Lanark secretary treasurer. Five directors were chosen and the group voted to incorporate as a not for profit under Illinois law. The session featured a ham dinner and notes on finances the year ending with receipts of 13 635 36 expenditures 10 064 31 and year end balance 3 571 05.

Harriet Bowman age 81 died at 8 PM Monday in a Savanna nursing home where she had resided for two years. Born July 30 1881 in York township Carroll county she was daughter of William and Hattie Lambert. She married Ruben Bowman April 24 1912 in Dubuque IA. he died December 1927. She belonged to St. Pauls Episcopal Church and St Marys Guild. Surviving are a sister Mrs George Williamson of Savanna and a cousin Mrs John Carroll of Thomson.
