Illinois House considers plan to redraw congressional districts
A Republican sponsored reapportionment would leave only the 12th downstate district unchanged while adding counties to the 13th, renaming it the 16th. Eleven districts would total about 295 180 population, and 18 districts would be split between downstate and Cook County. The plan aims to reflect 1940 census figures and could apply to the 1942 elections. Governor Green supports redistricting as a long standing issue.

Tax bills received this week in Carroll county
Taxpayers in Carroll county received 1940 tax bills over the past week with some on Saturday. The county treasurer reports total 1940 taxes due at $663,888.29, up from 1938 totals, and including back taxes and penalties the overall levy is $713,989.02 compared to last year.
