Myron Tibbits and Gus Roggendorf attended a Morrison Sportsmen club meeting Friday night. The club, with large membership including many farmers, funds fishing and game bird habitat, stocks streams and ponds, and plans to invite area residents to a future gathering in the YCHS gym with a date to be announced.
Tiete Koenes 70 died Monday night at his Fulton home after a long illness. Services were held Wednesday at Sikkema funeral chapel and Christian Reformed Church with Dr James Putt officiating. Burial in Fulton cemetery. Born May 2 1877 in The Netherlands, he immigrated in 1905 and was married to Jennie Marr ing. Surviving four children nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a brother and sister in The Netherlands. He was an uncle of Mrs Jerry Wiebenga.
Thomson briefed on visits by Mr and Mrs Merle Fields of Lost Nation and other couples from Rockford Clinton Morrison DeKalb DeWitt and Macomb. Local thanks included notes from Clarence Appel Clara Switzer and a poem about babysitting.
York area church announces Sunday events with minister Thos S Cleworth urging attendance. Church school at 10 a.m. Morning worship at 11 a.m. Palm Sunday emphasized and Holy Week Union services planned at the Methodist church on March 24 25 and 26 with further notices to follow.
The Methodist and Catholic congregations announce 8 o'clock mass and 11 o'clock morning worship with union Holy Week services to be hosted jointly. Baptism available. services set for March 23 24 and 26 with pastors Draper Gillespie and Cleworth. Dr. Bayly attended Fourth Quarterly Conference and presented a stewardship film.
The Baptist church outlines Sunday worship at 10:00 a.m. study at 11:00 a.m. with supt Herbert St. Ores and themes on the Kingdom of God and a 7:30 p.m. service on the conversion of a prison keeper. There is a United Service at the Methodist church on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30 p.m. with communion. Men and Women Bible classes meet on specified dates. Easter Cantata slated for Easter Eve at 8:00 p.m. Encourages family attendance and emphasizes living faith over mere membership.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Irons of Menson visited from Wednesday to Friday with her brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Win Giswold. Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Marshall visited Friday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott at Princeton Illinois. Miss Dorothe Lewis spent Monday in Dubuque Iowa.
Dora Houzenga 81 died at 3 a m Tuesday March 16 at the home of her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs John Medendorp north of Fulton. Born December 28 1866 in the Netherlands she came to this country 57 years ago and was married to John Housenga. Survived by 10 children including Henry Alex Daavid and Mrs Medendorp Fulton George Garrrett and Mrs John Van Kampen Thomson Mrs Jacob Huizenga Morrison Mrs Jacob Huizenga Cordova and John Owatona Minn 52 grandchildren and several great grandchildren also a brother Lou Temple Fulton a sister Mrs Lou Dykema Morrison and two brothers in the Netherlands. Preceded by husband a son Jacob her parents three sisters and a brother.
The Thomson Firemen fell 60 to 49 to the Fulton Melody Milk Bar on a Wednesday night. It was the Firemen's season opener with Gene Bull Bud Wilt Bud Bull Speed Robinson Hop Young Bob Hook Tom Root and Wayne Ashby in uniform. Both teams reportedly forgot high school rules, making it one of the roughest games in years.
Harold Starr spent Tuesday in Taquoketa on business. Sunday visits included Mr. and Mrs. McGinty and daughter in Chadwick with Mr. and Mrs. Stickell, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith with daughter Geraldine at the Brach home. A collision occurred Saturday afternoon at Chicago avenue and Park street in Savanna involving a Grav es auto and a Potter pickup. no injuries and vehicles damaged. Sunday callers in Mt. Carroll included the Carrolls visiting Gelwicks. Delbert Curley hosted a dinner with Del Settler of Chicago and Clarence Huggins of Albany. Decker guests from Fulton. Delbert Curley attended a Albany birthday party honoring Mrs. Robert Huggins, sister-in-law of Mrs. Curley.

Mrs EH Gholson of Savanna was elected president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Illinois Chiropractic Research Bureau at the State Convention in Springfield’s Leland Hotel. New officers include Mrs A E Lill of Belleville as vice president secretary and treasurer and Mrs RK L Kaeser of Belleville as director with a slate of others. Approximately 500 chiropractors and wives attended the noon banquet with entertainment by E C Cleary.
Mr and Mrs Bernard Schroeder of Fulton visited the Carrolls and Elliott families on Sunday. John and Johnnie Stearns joined Chas Hogg for a Davenport outing. Earl Ellis and Carl Kassel plus family visited John Wright in Savanna. Ray Erling visited Princeton with Clair Tobey. Leonard Feldt and John Brondyke hosted gatherings in Fulton.

Edmond A. Baker, 58, of 1919 McKinley Street, died Friday night at Mercy Hospital after suffering a heart attack at work in the Clinton Lock Company plant. Funeral Mass was held Monday at St. Irenaeus Church with burial in St. Irenaeus Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Rosemary Elsner, three daughters Marie Edna, Mrs. Donald Donahey, Mrs. Ralph Travin, three sons William, Gilbert, and Donald, six grandchildren, and his parents. He previously married Marie Thiesen. He served in the Mexican border campaign in 1916.
All day gathering at Mrs William Griswolds home raised funds and sewed a quilt for the Kurth family. Local social news lists visits and Sunday meals across Clinton and nearby towns with numerous families and friends mentioned including the McGintys Blair Smith and Maydens.

Edwin E. Knapp 74 lifelong resident of the Thomson area died at 10 p.m. Sunday March 14 at Savanna City hospital after four days of illness. Funeral at York Baptist church followed by burial in Lower York Cemetery. Survived by a sister Mrs Edson Holland and several nieces and nephews. preceded by parents, three brothers and five sisters. Out-of-town relatives attended.
