USO Benefit Friday Eve at Carroll
Mount Carroll prepares for a USO vaudeville benefit on June 26 at the high school gym. Act lineup includes The Three Kelly Kids Vincent Accardo the Johannsen Quartet and Nancy Ellens Dancing Dolls with proceeds split between USO and a Mount Carroll community fund. Tickets cost 30 cents for adults 15 cents for children. Proceeds support welfare work and military morale. Two local women chair the event and all performers donate their time.

Chadwick Cooperative Produce approves plans for a 44 by 14 foot addition to its cheese plant. The new wing, on the south side, will enclose a driveway area and house receiving scales, milk can washing equipment, and an office. A new driveway will be created outside the receiving room. Construction, to be tile faced on a concrete foundation, will be led by George Dahhler. State inspectors urged the change due to lack of a separate milk receiving room.

Billy Geiseman Committed To Elgin Hospital
Twelve year old Billy Geiseman, who killed Mr. and Mrs. Krogjohann near Shannon on April 4, was found insane by a circuit court jury in Mt. Carroll on June 9. Judge George Dixon entered orders, and Sheriff Ray Westfall transported him to Elgin State Hospital following transfer orders from state safety and welfare departments on Dr. Paul J. Schroeder’s recommendation. The insanity verdict relied on the evaluating psychiatrists appointed by the Institute for Juvenile Research.
