Bernie Boelkins Dies Sunday Eve in Chadwick Area
Bernie Boelkins 12, of Fair Haven died at 6 45 p m Sunday at his home five miles southwest of Chadwick after three years of illness. Funeral rites were held Wednesday in Morrison with a prayer service at Reynolds and burial in Grove Hill cemetery. He was born Sept 17 1901 in Garden Plain Whiteside county and married Gertrude Burkema in 1924. He is survived by his wife three sons Bernard Robert and Chester two sisters and six grandchildren and several brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Derridge Artie Hengerveld produced 20 813 pounds of milk and 637 pounds of butterfat in a year under supervision of the University of Illinois and the Holstein-Friesian Association. The Franklin Corners Community Sewing Circle met Friday June 11 with Mrs Clarence Gramm as host and Mrs Clifford Gsell as assistant hostess. Fifteen members and five guests enjoyed a scramble dinner, then devotions led by Mrs Louis Bush with Psalm 103. The Parkinson trio sang In Jesus as the group sewed two comforters. Secretary Mrs Ray Engelkens noted 58 pounds of clothing and comforters were sent to American Friends Service Committee in Philadelphia for overseas shipment. The July meeting will be at Mrs Charles Shultz with Mrs Albert Cober and Mrs Charles Conrady assisting. Guests included Mrs Bert Nelson Mrs Lena Herr Mrs W H Taylor Shirley Decker and Laura Daehler.
