First God and Country medal winner named by committee

Seventeen-year-old Eagh Sout Don Berg of Helena Montana, holder of four merit badges of the Hoy Scouts of America, is the first recipient of the God and Country medal from the National Protestant Committee on Scouting. The Presbyterian church reports little progress toward union with other Protestant denominations, with ongoing talks since 1970s failing to gain Episcopalian agreement and no reconciliation with the Southern Church.
