Dr Arthur Cutts Willard will deliver the commencement address in the Art Institute Opera House with Yale professor William Lyons Phelps among speakers at Chicago division ceremonies.

The county board appointed a tuberculosis committee with Dr Petty as president and Mrs C A Straka as secretary. The group met in Dr Petty's office and organized to lead tuberculosis work in Carroll County. The dedication of Myth Stevens Bennett Hall was held in the Frances Shimer Junior College quad at Mt Carroll. John Chive Bennett presented the building as a memorial to Myrtine Stevens Bennett, late president of Wilton Bennett Manufacturing Co. of Chicago. A large gift for remodeling the colonial residence hall was received from the Bennett family of Chicago and New Jersey.
The Navy plans a recruiting party at the Savanna post office building in Savanna Wisconsin on June 1 1937 from 9 AM to 4 PM. It invites all young men aged 17 to 20 interested in enlistment in the U S Navy for physical and mental examinations. Quotas for Rock Island District increased.
A Monday blaze gutted the interior of the William Isenhart building a one story frame structure in Mt Carroll's business district near Market Street. The fire likely started in the barber shop area with no insurance recorded for the building or contents and caused substantial losses estimated over 1000 dollars. Firefighters saved adjacent structures and containment prevented spread though the building may be torn down.

June 6 Gerald Lowe and Dorothy Elizabeth Rupp both of Lanark.
Four year scholarships available to high school graduates in the county who rank in the upper fourth of their class and intend to teach in Illinois public schools. One student per high school will be named, with Haertedt Tsenhait Chadwick currently certified. Applications must be sent before the part of July.
Hearing was held Wednesday by the county commission on Northwestern Nine United Companys plan to extend rural electric lines in York Salem and Carroll townships. The application was granted.
