Mount Carroll Club Wins 4-H Judging Contest
Twenty six 4-H club boys from four Carroll county communities competed in the county fat stock judging contest. Mt Carroll won with 977 of 1200 points, Savanna was second, Milledgeville third and Lanark fourth. Top individuals were Harold Yo chem, Freddie Dauphin, William Hartman, Marion Olson and Paul Deets. County Deaths of Benjamin Hatfield at 85 near Savanna
Benjamin Frank Hatfield aged 85 died at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his farm home north of Savanna. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. church with Dr. T. K. Griffith officiating. Burial followed in Savanna Cemetery. Survived by widow Caroline Fills and seven children: Mrs. Harry Sigalus, Roy and Charles of Savanna. Ralph of Benton, Wisconsin. Mrs. Bell Shaw of Clinton. Harvey and Frank of Dexter, Minnesota. and one brother John of Savanna.
