Enrollment at Shimer College to Hit 500 for First Time
Dr. F J Mullin president of Shimer College announces capacity enrollment expected this September reaching 500, the 114 year old coeducational campus plans to admit well qualified applicants with no deadline for applications. About 80 percent of previous semester eligible students are returning and overseas study will send 55 students to St Claires Hall Oxford England for a year as part of the program. The record applications trend supports enrollment from roughly 45 states and a few foreign students.

Highway Commissioner Fined for Noxious Weeds Violation
Washington Township Highway Commissioner Har old Handel was fined $10 plus $10.30 costs after pleading guilty in Carroll County circuit court to failing to prevent or destroy noxious weeds along roads. The complaint was filed July 19 by Glen M.Wurster of rural Savanna.
