Savanna Native Dies in Chicago
Thomas Upchurch, 60, a Savanna native who had lived in Chicago, died Sunday there. Funeral rites were held Wednesday in Ohio. He was the son of Mrs. Alice Upchurch, formerly of Savanna, and a first cousin of Robert and B E Fuller of Savanna. Surviving are his wife, several children, his mother, and his brothers and sisters.

Court Reporter Severely Hurt In Auto Crash
Arthur Patrick, 83, of Freeport, court reporter for Circuit Judge Harry E. Wheat, was seriously injured Tuesday of last week when his car left the road and struck a tree near Shannon. He was unconscious on arrival at a Freeport hospital, with brain concussion and severe facial, head, and body injuries. his car was demolished and pinned in the wreck.

Fresh Fields opens Frances Shimer summer theatre season
The Frances Shimer Summer Theatre at Mt Carroll Illinois presents Ivor Novello's Fresh Fields opening July 18 at 8 15 p m for five Friday performances. Dress Revue and Judging Planned for County 4-H Day

Mr and Mrs Homer Switzer of Edinburg and Mr and Mrs Kenneth Whitney returned Sunday evening from a ten day trip to the Black Hills Yellowstone Park and Boise Idaho covering about 4000 miles. They noted fine crops and abundant spring and summer rains with Yellowstone reporting rain all but four days since Memorial day. They visited relatives in Boise and stopped at the King Brothers sheep ranch near Laramie observing a large purebred flock. They could not visit Julesburg due to time.
