Directors of the reorganized Thomson State Bank elected a seven member board Monday evening. N. D. French was reelected president and Thomas Stagg was chosen vice president. A. E. Sheridan was renamed cashier. New directors named were A. E. Sheridan Dan Connell Thomas Stagg Robert Grobaring Louis Strauch and John Hook. The bank reports deposits up over twenty thousand dollars.

Catholic morning service at 8:00. The Altar and Hosary society met with Mrs A Sheridan Thursday afternoon. a large turnout enjoyed social time and refreshments. Next meeting scheduled for August 3. Sunday school at 10 and church service at 8:00 p.m. Rev Meima will lead the sermon. The aid plans an all day meeting next Thursday July 20 at the church. Live Wire class to meet Thursday evening at Bruce Groharing’s home. Joe Blair’s social Tuesday brought about 50 attendees with angel food cake fruit salad and lemonade refreshments.
The Church of Christ offers Sunday School at 9 30 and Morning Worship at 10 30 with sermons on prayer titled What Shall We Pray The plan aims to restore the family altar in homes and strengthen church growth. A union service is set with Rev David Todd at the Methodist church. A reception for new members and a guest list of visitors is noted.

Residents in Chadwick praised a Savanna oil solution to keep dust down. Workers applied a gasoline-like oil with a sprinkler, costing two cents per gallon, leaving no tracking or splashing on shoes or tar. Ed Mest vouches for its effectiveness after a Saturday street test.

Gay Brown and Ben Wagner assist the drainage project at Sunfish Lake where crews clean channels to improve water access for pumps. Previous methods used motor boats to loosen vegetation, but this growth is now solid, requiring spades and manual labor. The work will take several days with additional help from Yee district.
The 4H Club of Argo held a picnic Wednesday near Dorothy Holm's home after completing their work and meeting schedules. Members enjoyed the outing as part of their ongoing club activities and advancement in projects.
Obituary notes Sera L. Willis born in Somersetshire England in 1844 died July 8 1933 at Thomson Illinois age 83 with long service to Church of Christ. She married James Dyson in 1872 lived in Red Oak Iowa and Thomson Illinois where she led the ladies aid society and served in religious orders. A charter Eastern Star member and active in Women’s Relief Corps she died peacefully after a life devoted to home family and church. Funeral Tuesday July 11 at Church of Christ with pastor Rev Derid Todd and Rev C C Carpenter assisting.
The 500 club meets this afternoon with Mrs. K. RB Carpenter. Last week prizes awarded: first to Mrs. Fred Nipe, second to Mrs. Roy Houghton, consolation to Mrs. Bayard Lewis. Victor Brockill suffered a double leg fracture when a cow shied at a passing auto near the Smith home. First aid and X rays at Clinton hospital confirmed proper setting. The cow was corralled and to be shipped to Chicago. Victor rests as summer plans spoil. Home Economics Club meets July 21 at Argo church with committee members listed.
The Royal Neighbors are meeting Tuesday July 15. The Eastern Star will meet tomorrow night July 13. Members urged to attend these community fraternal events.
Petey Wales promotes a Saturday evening free entertainment featuring Yankee Speed. Two pictures promise thrills and laughs plus a comedy and a novelty act. The full show aims to draw a crowd for an evening of entertainment.
Mr and Mrs Rimbro Shake and their relatives visit long time with Mr and Mrs Frank Rash. Sodney Reader traveled to Macomt yesterday and brought their old goods to Freeport where the Shakes plan to establish their future home.
