Savanna House Damaged by Fire
Fire destroyed the upper floor of the Carl Anderson home on N Main St Monday. Smoke and water damaged the rest of the five room dwelling. Fire Chief Fred Hungerford attributed the blaze to an overheated chimney. Mr and Mrs Anderson and their four children were sheltered by Mr and Mrs Sam Anderson, owners of the burned house.

Brattleboro Vermont January 15 The 37 cow herd of registered Holstein Friesians owned by John R Derrer and Son Mt Carroll Illinois completed its test year averaging 12212 pounds of milk and 455 pounds of butterfat per year The herd produced about 19 quarts daily per cow Testing was under the Herd Improvement Registry program of the Holstein Friesian Association of America Milking was twice daily and testing supervised by the University of Illinois in cooperation with the national Holstein headquarters

F W Zugschwerdt deputy in the Chadwick offices of County Treasurer Frank L Ross is in St Francis hospital Freeport with a fractured hip after falling from a ground floor window while leaving the courthouse. He will be confined for six weeks or more. Leonard Lantz Mt. Carroll assisted him and he was taken to his son in law Arthur Miller’s home. A physician confirmed the fracture after examination and x rays.
