Miss Lucinda Lee Baker 17 daughter of Mr and Mrs Jake Baker of Thomson, senior at York community high school, receives the DAR good citizens award for 1961 62. She served as librarian in sophomore year dramatics in junior and senior years chorus two years FHA three years GAA one year. She wrote for the Yorkster and Trojan Topics one year each. An above average student she plans nursing training after graduation.

Plan to Organize Thomson Troop of Brownie Scouts

News brief notes plans to start a Thomson Brownie Scout troop for girls ages seven to nine. Two organizing meetings were held February 2 in Ruby Hill’s home and February 16 in Janis Wilt’s home with participants including Mrs Poffenberod, Mr Carroll, Joan McCarthy, Joyce Dykstra, Dianna Marken, Doris Green, Mary Temple and others. The group aims to launch in March.

Golden Rule Class Met Wednesday at Baptist Church

The Golden Rule class of the Baptist church met Wednesday evening in the church basement with 12 members present. Mrs. Robert Carroll led the program, reading several short stories and ms, followed by group singing. Afterward, refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holland and Mrs. Helen Brenneman.

Connie Houzenga and Raymond Wiebenga Wed in Fulton

Connie Houzenga daughter of Mr and Mrs Jake Houzenga of Fulton RFD 1 and Raymond Wiebenga son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Wiebenga of 1312 14th Ave Fulton were married Friday evening at eight oclock at Valley Reformed church in Fulton. Rev Jack Van Heest officiated in the presence of immediate families. A reception for 75 followed in the church parlors with mint green and lavender decor. The couple will reside at an apartment on 11th Ave Fulton after a short wedding trip.

L E Kindle of Rt 4 Sterling died at 12 15 AM Monday at Community General hospital. Born July 5 1879 in Reynolds County Mo he was married to Gertie Smith April 16 1901 in Leeper Mo. He had farmed in Hopins Township 41 years and lived in Sterling 35 years. Survived by wife two daughters Mrs Carmal Hey and Mrs John Myra Sloan two sons Vernon and Le Roy Kindle one brother William Kindle nine grandchildren ten great grandchildren. Blood Typing Program Slated Here Thursday March 1
