About 45 law officers from Carroll Lee Ogle and Whiteside Counties joined the monthly Rock River Development Commission meeting at the Courthouse. Richard Veith of Mt. Carroll spoke on Ballistics with a handgun comparison for patrol use.
A new four floor high rise in Savanna Carroll County opens to display self contained living for elderly residents. Residents like Mr Troha at 88 and Mrs Troha 84 enjoy apartments with a post office intercom and nearby laundromat while discussing plans for the future. Open house is planned in the coming weeks as final touches finish.
A second Con-Con article highlights expanding food stamp support and calls farmers to enroll in farm programs while noting a 4H clothing school and a successful Girl Scout cookie drive. Delegate Harlan Rigney files additional News coverage and updates from the convention.
The annual Carroll County Livestock Feeders Banquet is set for Saturday evening March 7 at Lanark high school. Serving begins 6:00 p.m. with the program at 8:00 p.m. Honey In The Rock from Dixon high school will perform and Scott Detrick of Louisville Kentucky will be the featured speaker. Tickets available from listed officers and directors including Lanark and Chadwick representatives.
The Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its annual meeting and Extension Soil and Crops Day on Wednesday February 25 1970 at 10 30 a m in the Naaman Diehl Auditorium Mt Carroll. The program centers on minimum tillage with a panel of local farmers, agronomist William Oschwald of the University of Illinois and Apple River Chemical Company’s Ralph Michael presenting data and results. Elections for three directors will be held to two year terms. A lunch is provided by Carroll Service Company Lanark.
Carroll County Republican Women's Club meets Friday February 27 at the Masonic Temple Lanark. A 12 30 p.m. luncheon requires reservations by February 25 payable to town chairman. Candidates in the March 17 primary are invited. election of officers and 1970 dues are payable at this meeting.
The district basketball tourney will be held in Thomson on February 26 and 27. Thursday evening Shannon meets Chadwick at 7 pm and Thomson faces Tampico at 8:15 pm. The two winners meet Friday at 7:30 pm for the championship with the victor advancing to Lanark regionals.
