Teaching First Aid Techniques At Savanna Army Depot
The First Aid Instructors course at Savanna Army Depot offers newest first aid techniques after completing the basic program. The three day session runs February 16 17 9 00 am to 4 00 pm and February 18 9 00 am to noon in Building 132 Clifford Shore depot extensions 3130 or 2116 urged Gary Harmsen instructor to contact. Harmsen recently helped rescue two Risinger sisters from drowning in the Mississippi, showing his long standing commitment to first aid instruction.

Supervisors Approve Road Weight Limits Penalties
Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved a spring time road weight limit resolution setting maximum gross weights by axle and total and outlining penalties. The plan includes a three month limit and related enforcement while addressing Woodland township road funding and necessary improvements near Mount Carroll. The board also approved meetings, bills, an engineering agreement, and personnel changes.

A Savanna daughter alerted relatives when two Mount Carroll residents, Edward and Mrs. Havorka, grew gravely ill from an odorless gas. Neighbors John Swiech and Richard Veith rushed to help. all four were treated at Savanna City Hospital and recovered enough to return home Monday.

Resuscitation Training Course Started by Local Health Groups
The Carroll, Ogle, Jo Daviess and Stephenson County Heart Associations join Freeport Memorial Hospital and Highland Community College to sponsor a nine hour CPR course for physicians, nurses, and fire department personnel. Dr. Edward Sharp will teach. The February 18 start at 7 30 p m in the Highland Community College lecture hall. Two personnel from each fire department will attend and then train their departments. The course runs through March 4.

Russian Woman Speaks at NLFA Convention
The 25th annual National Livestock Feed ers Association convention met February 4 5 6 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel. Hon Clifford M Hardin Secretary of Agriculture attended from Washington D C, while Mrs Leon Iwanowski spoke on I am a free captive American detailing her Russian Stalin era hardships and concentration camp experiences. Attendees from Chadwick included Mr and Mrs Albert Bowles and others. The 1971 convention will be held in St Louis Missouri.

Extension Advisor Named for Carroll County
Carroll County will resume Extension Advisor of Home Economics duties on March 1 with Joyce Harvey of Savoy Illinois to start in the office vacated by Dorothy Footitt since July 1968. Harvey, a 1968 University of Illinois graduate, has two years interior decorating experience and plans to make Mt Carroll her home.

Final Tractor Safety Class in Carroll County
Carroll County hosts its final tractor safety class on Thursday February 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Naaman Diehl Auditorium. Larry Hale of Country Companies Bloomington IL will present farm safety and is a qualified driver training instructor. The program, run with local dealers and the Extension Service, teaches safe operation and maintenance of power driven farm equipment. Forty two youths may earn a certificate meeting Department of Labor standards.
