Appoint Deputy Registrars for Illinois Voting

March 15 is the final date to register under the Illinois permanent registration act before the April primary. County Clerk W. M. Nipe notes most voters are already registered but some must register, including those 21 since the last date and newcomers moving in. Morison and Milnes wed in Morrison church ceremony

Morison Miss Betty Lou Rick and Virgil Milnes of Morrison exchanged nuptial vows in Morrison Presbyterian church in an 8 p.m. candlelit ceremony conducted by Rev. Richard B. Heydinger. The event featured organist Edna Mathew, vocal solos, a reception, and a cross-shaped cake. After February 17 the couple will reside at 309 East Morris Street. Milnes plans farming. Miss Rick is a 1946 Morrison High School graduate.

Spring Arrives With Unseasonably Warm Weekend

Thermometers climbed to 40 degrees Sunday, the highest since last November, with signs of spring in the air. Daytime warming followed nights near freezing, ice and snow largely vanished, and dirt roads grew soft atop a deep frost layer.

Girl Dies After Auto Hit At Savanna Intersection

Diesis Diesis, 12, Savanna schoolgirl, fatally injured at 4 45 p m Monday when struck at Chicago avenue and 4th street by a car driven by Ester Aitken 19 of rural route 1 Savanna. She died ten minutes after arriving at Savanna hospital. County coroner says crushing chest injuries and set an inquest for 10 a m Tuesday. Aitken claimed children ran across the avenue directly in front of her car with no opportunity to stop. She was born February 22, 1935, in Savanna and is survived by her parents and paternal grandfather Elmer Eversoll of Clinton Iowa.

Arrest Three At Ordnance Depot for Trespassing

Three Clinton men Vincent Putman Eugene Putman and Albert Peterson were arrested Friday at the Savannah Ordnance Depot for trespassing on federal property. They were released on $100 bond each after refusing to waive preliminary examination. examination set for Feb 25. Putman and Peterson later fined $100 each for violating state fish and game laws. Authorities say they were cutting holes in ice to seine fish and a seine about 200 yards long was found in a truck.

New Supervising Nurse Appointed in Public Health Office

Miss Margaret Faulkner of Granite City Illinois has become supervising nurse for district three of the Illinois Public Health Department with headquarters in Savannah. Autos Collide Near Mt Carroll Injure Four

Four people escaped with minor cuts and bruises when two autos collided head on at a gravel road curve four miles northwest of Mt Carroll. Vehicles driven by Dr W L Derrer and Edward Hovorka sustained extensive front damage. two children Jerry and Betty Edwards rode with Hovorka. Sheriff Henry Truninger investigated.

Dentist from Mt. Pleasant to open office in Mt Carroll

Dr Hubert Beacom of Winslow will open an office in Mt Carroll in about two weeks. He rented space in the Noble building vacated by Dr L O Ruud who left practice to enter medical school. Beacom is a Northwestern University dental college graduate and will move with his wife once living quarters are found.

Fuller assumes public relations officer post at Savanna Ordnance Depot

Capt. Robert A. Fuller, formerly of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., has taken the duties as public relations officer at the Savanna Ordnance Depot. He will work under Capt. Willis H. Van Hausen who directs the housing program at Blackhawk Village, now controlled by the Army. Fuller and his wife will reside at the depot.

Charles Shuman who recently conducted a closing out sale bought the Provant Musselman Estate residence in Chadwick at auction last Thursday afternoon. The Shumans plan to move to town soon. Price paid was 3920 dollars. Rev Merle Hanbecker visited Mrs Ida Schrock at the Freeport hospital Saturday.
