Funeral Service Scheduled in Chadwick for Harold Daehler

Harold W. Daehler 47 a York Township farmer died February 11 in Moline after a cerebral hemorrhage. He is survived by his wife Viva Eversole, two daughters Mary Ann Elder and Diana, a son David, his mother Dora Daehler, two brothers Paul and Louis, a sister Louisa Reitzel, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held February 14 at First Lutheran Chadwick with burial in Savanna cemetery.

Trojans fall to Pearl City in fifth defeat of season

Thomson High's Trojans dropped an 86 67 decision to Pearl City last Friday evening for their fifth loss. They close the year with district tournament play set for Shannon on Feb 24 25 facing Lyndon with the winner meeting Chadwick Shannon. Bissens led Thomson with 21 points Ray Bissens 20 and Dykstra 18. Pearl City Brinkmeier scored 20 as the Wolves built a second half lead after a 44 41 halftime edge. The Junior Varsity also lost 64 36 to Pearl City JV.

Sick Roy Houghton was discharged from Mercy Hospital Clinton after weeks with a broken hip and is staying with his daughter Mrs Ray Klein in Downers Grove. Wayne Ashby Gail Tursay Howard Law and Mrs Law remain patients in Iowa City facilities with family convalescence at home. Karen Halfman daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Halfman confined home with hives.

National FFA Week Observed Feb 19 26 At Thomson High

Thomson High School joins nationwide FFA activities during National FFA Week Feb 19 25 with theme Agriculture More Than Farming. Go to Church Sunday observed Feb 20 and the annual Parent Son Banquet is set for Feb 22. The Thomson FFA Chapter has 44 members led by President Ray Bissens and officers. Junior High In Final Rounds County Tourney

The Carroll County Junior High Basketball Tournament progressed with first round games at Chadwick. Milledgeville forfeited to Hill due to fog. Mt Carroll beat Chestnut Park in heavyweights as Monday results.

School Bands To Present Winter Concert Friday

The Junior Varsity and Varsity bands will perform their annual Winter concert on Friday February 18 at 8 00 pm in the Gymnasium. The program opens with Heads Up march by the JV band followed by Polka for Band Flute Frapp e and a Processional. The Varsity program features two marches a Latin American suite and several popular numbers including Vanguard Cameo Westminster Waltz Tropical Twilight Ferry Cross the Mersey and Thundercrest.

A public, county wide zoning meeting was tentatively set for March 25 in Mt. Carroll. The plan emerged at a Friday meeting of the Fact Finding Committee on Zoning held at Merle Sturtevant’s home. Mrs Seaman Swett Dies at 62 in Thomson Home

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs Seaman Swett 62 who died Saturday morning at her home in Thomson. Rev William Kendall officiated at Fay funeral home Fulton with pallbearers Donald Merle Jr Richard and Robert Atherton Lyle Mitchell and Robert Shephard. Burial followed in Lower York cemetery. She was born December 16 1903 in Thomson daughter of Arch and Dolly Atherton and married Seaman Swett May 11 1929 in Thomson. Surviving are her husband and 11 grandchildren four great grandchildren plus four daughters two brothers and four sisters. She was a member of York Community Church.

Bolhous Couple Celebrate 30th Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Clarence Bolhous of Thomson marked their thirtieth wedding anniversary on February 14 1966 with a gathering in Morrison and a later reception at the Vos home in Clinton Iowa. Clarence and Grace Bielema Bolton later married in 1936 and reside in Thomson where he works in insurance and real estate while she taught in Thomson and Fulton schools. They have a daughter Marilyn Juikema of Morrison and two grandsons.
