The Thomson PTA sponsors a blood mobile visit and is scheduling 15 minute donor appointments. Residents must be 18 to 66 years old and in good health. The drive aims to expand first time donors following last year’s success.
Orville Montgomery of the Milwaukee Allis Chalmers division led a tractor basics session for Carroll County teens. About 39 attended with 16 registered. sessions continue Thursday at Hartman Implement Mt. Carroll at 7 30 p m focusing on maintenance starting stopping hitches hydraulics.
Carroll County grand jury met Friday January 30 and returned indictments against seven persons. Suppressed names appear after service. Offense details include aggravated battery and resisting arrest for Jimmy Joe Offill. six counts of burglary and theft for Richard Winston. unlawful restraint indecent liberties and contributing to sexual delinquency for Kenneth Grant. forgery for Andrew Curl and Robert Hagemann. Cases set for preliminary motions with appointed counsel by February 10. Jail inspection deemed sanitary with prisoners well cared for.
Carroll County producers will receive notices and an explanatory leaflet on the 1970 feed grain program on January 30. Sign up for voluntary programs runs February 2 to March 20. The plan mirrors 1969 with acreage diversion rules and price support loans. small farms receive favored rates under 20 percent diversion rules.
Otto Kniss and Stanley Toomsen sue Commonwealth Edison in Carroll County Circuit Court for 8500 dollars in damages plus costs arising from a May 31 1967 residence fire in Shannon. Kniss seeks 6500 for damages to his home. Toomsen seeks 2000 for loss of furniture.
Shimer College in Mount Carroll unveils the A. Beth Hostetter Scholarship program for Carroll County high school graduates. The $650 yearly, renewable award applies to tuition for full time students and may be adjusted if state aid limits total aid from other sources.
