The York Cedarettes 4-H Club met Feb 6 at the Legion Hall with Sgt Hortensen and Howard Prins as guests. Prins showed Saigon films and discussed the country. temps, geography, money, and transport were described. Thomson High Student Wins Lions Peace Essay Contest
Lawrence Bruckner a Thomson high school junior won the local Lions contest earning a 25 dollar Savings Bond and earned the right to compete in the national Peace Essay contest among entries from the United States and 121 foreign countries. The winner receives 2500 educational grant and eight finalists get 1000 awards at the 50th Lions International convention in Chicago in July.

Thomson Grade School's Little Tigers completed a perfect regular season by defeating Shannon 46 to 32 and Albany 36 to 14 on consecutive nights.
