The Illinois Supreme Court on Monday affirmed the 20 year prison sentence of Clarence Collins a Negro youth convicted in July 1939 at Mt Carrol for the slaying of Lieutenant Paul E LaMaster during a CCC camp robbery on March 31 1939. His brother John Collins faced the death penalty but unraveled to insanity during appeal and is now in a state hospital for the criminally insane.

J W Erdmier reports Carroll county farmers will store 78 711 bushels of 1988 and 1959 corn for one to two more years under the resealing program ending Nov 1.
