A Friday evening party hosted by Mrs. Edward French celebrated the birthdays of her husband and brother-in-law Melvin Traum of Lanark, both born on December 6. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reddick of Clinton, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Traum, and Mrs. Garland Harris.
A self propelled cornpicker will reach farmers next year. It has its own power unit to drive and operate the snapping and husking rolls, freeing the tractor for other work. It can harvest two rows at once and handles 20 to 30 acres daily, reducing manual labor by about 15 workers equivalents. It works in contour and muddy fields, speeds up to eight mph, and requires no attaching or detaching from a tractor.
The Jack and Jill Shop at West Third Street in the Randolph Hotel building Sterling offers a full line of infants and children's wear toys and gifts. It features the Joan Carol maternity dresses the Melody doll collection and knit crochet items made to order. Handmade dresses are available and Miss Hazel Christopher fourth grade teacher at Sterling Central is the proprietor inviting Carroll county residents to visit.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Grim and family visited Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Edward French and family.
Mr and Mrs Edward French and children spent Saturday evening with Mr and Mrs Jay Kurth and Ronnie, sharing time and conversation in a neighborhood gathering.
