Announcement that the Army Navy "E" Award presentation will be held December 8 at 4 p.m. on the Savanna Ordnance Depot lawn. Col L P Crim will present, Lt Col Max Brackett announced. About 40 000 bushels have been picked and stored, 30 acres remain to be harvested, and carpenters race to build cribs for quick storage. Pfister hybrid seed performed well, and the corn will feed 660 head of Herefords plus dairy cattle hogs and poultry on the large farm.

Glen Thompson of Lanark was arrested early Sunday on reckless driving after his car hit a truck loaded with explosives at the east edge of Mt. Carroll. The truck and vehicle suffered little damage. Thompson bound over to the grand jury with $250 bond and released on recognizance. The TNT load was bound for the Savanna finance depot.
