A Jo Daviess county Circuit court jury found Wilbur Hunt 19 and Arthur Jeffer 27 both of Hanover guilty of criminal assault on a young Savanna woman early Aug. 5 1938. After deliberating since Friday 4 p.m. the jury set Hunt's penalty at one year and Jeffer's at two years. Judge Harry Edwards of Dixon presided.

John Tallman an 18 year old Lanark high school junior died in an automobile wreck north of Lanark after leaving a basketball game. Coroner's jury ruled accidental death likely complicated by drowning. The car plunged into a creek after failing to round a curve. Tallman survived by parents Ady and ?
