Train Kills Lock Worker Near Fulton
Ed Lundman a cement worker on the lock project near Fulton died after being struck by a Burlington freight train Saturday morning. He was taken to Mercy hospital Clinton where he died about 10 o clock. Lundman listed from Centerville IA on payroll. Burial at Fay's Fulton chapel and Centerville services followed with no inquest.

Whiteside County s 66th annual fair opens at Morrison fair grounds on September 3 and runs four days. The event features the largest 4 H baby beef show in the fair s history with judging Wednesday at 10 am and about 100 calves entered. Harness racing offers nine races over three days with more than 1400 in purses plus starting fees. The fair is part of the Central Illinois Trotting and Pacing association and aims to attract high quality horses from a 40 mile radius, plus novelty events like ja and chariot races.
