Mechanic Killed in Mt Carroll Electrocution Tragedy
Bert Grim a 44 year old Mt Carroll garage mechanic was electrocuted Saturday while under a car at the Petty garage. Defective insulation on a drop cord light allowed 119 volt current to pass through his body. Semple and Max Smith lifted him clear and summoned a physician. Grim died minutes after arrival. An inquest at Franks funeral home returned a verdict of accidental electrocution.

Lightning hit the Ransom Spitzer farm in Woodland township early last Sunday morning starting a blaze that destroyed the barn and several smaller buildings. Dredging Finished in Mississippi Channel at Savanna
Dredging operations in the Mississippi channel at Savanna were completed Saturday morning. Equipment moved north to continue similar work. The Savanna depth now ranges from ten seven and a half to eight feet, with the river about five tenths of a foot below high water mark. About 12,000 yards of mud and sand were pumped from the channel, with most fill used near Marquette Park beach and along the river bank north of the park and on the Iowa shore.
