4 H Round-Up Crowns New King and Queen

Six area 4 H members reached the 1967 finals for the 4 H King and Queen contest at the Carroll County Fair and Round Up. Wayne Wubbena of Shannon and Patti Smith of Lanark were crowned 4 H king and queen by the 1966 royalty.

Sgt Robert J Trude Arrives in Pleiku Viet Nam

Army Sergeant Robert J. Trude, 25, of Thomson Illinois, arrived at Pleiku base in Viet Nam with the 4th Infantry Division after 50 hours of training. He entered the Army in 1960, completed basic at Fort Hood, and was last stationed in Savanna Illinois. His wife Constance resides in Charlotte Iowa.

Sherman Ashby Wins Top Exhibit Trophy at Whiteside Fair

Sherman Ashby of Thomson earned the 1967 Whiteside County Fair premier exhibitor trophy for agricultural products after winning 12 first places 16 seconds and four thirds in vegetable displays. The trophy was awarded by J. A. Bull & Sons Inc of Union Grove and Morrison.

Pratt Lussow Vows Taken At Madison Cathedral

Paula Elizabeth Pratt and John Henry Lussow wed in a noon Aug 19 ceremony at St Raphael's Cathedral Madison. School Lists 67-68 Staff Named by Superintendent

Historical markers planned for Abraham Lincoln 1832 trails

Carroll County Historical Society seeks community help to revise county histories for the Sesquicentennial year 1818 to 1819 and mark Lincoln's 1832 marches on the Sucker Trails. A stone-arch bridge site near Brookville in Lima Township will host the marker with 50 word text approved by the State Historical Society.

Baseball Picnic To Be Saturday

Cradle Shower Held for Tina Marie Blount

A cradle shower for 7 week old Tina Marie Blount daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Blount was held Thursday evening August 17 in Mrs Paul V Wilt home. Mrs Danny Wiebenga of Fulton assisted with games. Twelve relatives from the Thomson and Fulton areas attended. Tina received many lovely gifts.
