Carroll County 4 H Fair set to feature Vigortones and Dean Landsear

The Carroll County 4 H Fair and Round Up will host the Vigortones barbershop quartet from Cedar Rapids and radio host Dean Landsear of WMT on August 22 at Old Mill Park. Also announced are wedding plans for Miss Cynthia Ann Kness and Ronald Lee Fossett of Chadwick with a ceremony at Dutchtown Church of the Brethren in Milledgeville.

Bruckner Chosen Delegate To National Agricultural Youth Institute

Lawrence Bruckner son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Bruckner was selected as the Illinois delegate to the National Agricultural Youth Institute in Nebraska part of the state's centennial celebration. Marken Families Reunite After East Coast Visit

Hotel Radke in Savanna Sold to Markham Pair

The Hotel Radke in Savanna formerly owned by the Hotel Radke Corporation changed hands on August 16. Mrs. C. C. Mullen, who operated the hotel after her husband’s death, sold to Mr. and Mrs. Anderson of Markham New Jersey, near Chicago, who now run the hotel and the on-site coffee shop.

Morris Martinson of Solon Springs Wisconsin died Sunday morning after a long hospital stay. Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. He is survived by his widow and two daughters Mrs Sylvia King of Seattle Washington and Mrs Martha Cronister of Thomson.

Village Inn Robbed Sunday Night In Break-In

The Village Inn suffered a burglary Sunday night with merchandise and cash taken. Entry was gained by breaking a rear window. Investigators suspect an accomplice as alcohol and wine theft are under inquiry by the village marshal and county sheriff.

The Thomson Lions Club thanks participants of the Community Fair and sponsors at the chicken bar-b-que. The Elliott reunion held at Old Mill park on Sunday August 13 drew 44 attendees from Dyersville Dubuque Ia Dixon Princeton Peru Salle and Thomson. The 1968 reunion is set for the second Sunday in August at City-County Park in Princeton.

The York Cedar 4 H club held its regular meeting at the Clifton Dykstra home Monday evening. A hay ride and a wine r roast were enjoyed. Members judged cows and conducted a Hazard Hunt with Mrs Realer and Mrs French in charge.

Fletcher Letcher enters Air Force in Chicago

James Vernon Letcher, son of Mr and Mrs Ben Letcher, left Monday for Chicago to enter the Air Force. His address will be published later. A picnic supper at the Ben Letcher home Sunday honored Jim with about 40 attending from Sterling, Rock Falls, Deer Grove, Fulton and Thomson.
