Old Settlers Meet Draws Large Crowd in Lan ark
Clouds cleared as Lanark hosted the 67th Carroll County Old Settlers reunion drawing the largest crowd yet. Four thousand sandwiches and gallons of coffee were served before barbecue was exhausted. Rev. T. Stuart Cleworth spoke on A Prairie Trail as officers were elected for next year. Parade prizes honored Patsy Lowman, Philip Roddiger, Roger Dean Downs, Richard Weed, Delores Peat, LeRoy Frey, and Ray Allen Peat. Amateur contests awarded to Dean Johnson and others. Rev. Harry D. Kaye led the day’s events.
