Sixty third annual convention of Federated Women’s Clubs of Illinois 18th District held April 19 at Warren high school gym. Mrs. R. Gerald Hough presided with morning elections and a two year term summary. Miss Janet Thompson spoke as Indian Scholarship recipient. Vogue Style Show and cafe luncheon followed. awards for federation reporting went to Freeport Journal-Standard Dixon Evening Telegraph and Mount Morris Index. Mrs. Charles Peterson installed new officers.

Snowstorm Delays Mail and Road Travel Near Shannon
A Shannon youth died in a northwest country road collision the Saturday before the storm. Mail delivery lagged as trucks could not pass, Chadwick mail did not arrive until Tuesday. Carroll County schools ran on schedule though some buses did not finish routes. Snow melted quickly after the storm ended with sunny Tuesday morning.
