OPA and WFA Set Tire Limits for Tractors and Cars in April
The OPA says April tire quotas for small trucks and farm tractors and implements rise from March but remain well below April last year. April passenger tires stay at March levels, while the new passenger tube allocation increases 7.2 percent. The WFA urges farmers to withhold conversion appeals from steel to rubber tires unless extreme hardship, and suggests reconditioning old tractor tires. Standard civilian highway truck tires will use about 35 percent crude rubber and more synthetic. the Rubber Director notes the synthetic program can meet military tire needs.
