The John B Gordon Chapter plans to place eighty white marble head stones at graves of Confederate soldiers buried in the area. Each head stone will show the dead’s name, company, and regiment and will be erected only at unmarked graves. Relatives have raised objections but the ladies expect to proceed if approvals are granted.
The Quitman Advertiser announces the marriage of Prof J O Culpepper and Miss Daisy Lee Morse set for August 26 in Tallakas Georgia. Culpepper formerly Assistant Principal at Quitman Graded School and now runs a Perry Florida mercantile business and edits the Perry Herald. He was born and raised in Thomas County and has many friends in the county.
The note praises Remur Braswell son of Mr A Braswell of this place for completing ethnography studies at Sisuleys with high marks and multilingual ability. It lauds his diligence restraint from vices and predicts future success, urging other Thomasville boys to follow the example.

He admitted shooting Jeff Godwin but denied killing the town marshal. He will be sent to Thomas County jail after requisition papers, with Governor Candler awaited.
Rev W H Holloway departs for Puskaozes Alabama to invite Booker T Washington to speak in Thomeville on emancipation day. A petition by leading citizens asks the famed orator to return after a past visit drew a large cultured audience and strong approval from both white and colored residents.
Lebanon Pa Aug 29 A committee of striking workers from the American Iron and Steel Manufacturing Company visited General Manager Lord demanding removal of Reading men and others sent in and restoration of old bands. The request was refused and 1800 workers at the plant went out on strike.
Live Firm, Atkinson & Thompson of Thomasville earns strong notices from Pelham Free Lance for four large contracts in Pelham. Builders are praised as progressive, doing pretty work and delivering promptly.
A group of colored young men is attempting to organize a brass band with a few instruments. They are learning to play and seek more instruments and a capable teacher. The community hopes this effort is supported to complete the band and benefit the town.
