FAA Announces New Pilot Certification and Instrument Rules
The FAA sets effective November 1 for new rules requiring periodic flight reviews for private pilots and instrument ratings for post November 1 1974 commercial license applicants. The 250 hour commercial requirement includes 10 hours in complex aircraft, while private pilots retain a 40 hour minimum. Instructors must hold a commercial license with instrument rating and proper aircraft category and class ratings.
