Bainbridge Georgia June 1 The Clark Thread Company a leading textile maker will move its operations from New Jersey to Georgia and open a new mill in Bainbridge The firm bought the Bainbridge Army Air Field building from the War Assets Administration to house the plant The 54000 square foot facility will accommodate four to five hundred workers and may lead to a larger installation than first planned adapting the former war era laundry and base facilities for industrial use.
Ed H. Cherry of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce will be guest speaker at the Cairo Kiwanis Club luncheon. He will discuss The Road To Better Government and has been visiting the area for regional civic leader meetings.

H L Wingate president of the Georgia Farm Bureau will address Decatur County Farm Bureau members and others at the Decatur County Court House Tuesday at eight. The talk will cover the Agricultural Appropriation Bill before Congress and is expected to be of value to farmers. Paul Ingram and Keaton Cox of Mitchell County are district directors. R G Pope chairs Decatur County.
Cairo Georgia June 2 The Cairo high school senior party led by J Harwell House began a three day sight seeing visit to Washington DC staying at the Willard Hotel They traveled by bus from Cairo with a stop in Southern Pines North Carolina and plan to visit New York City before returning around June 10 In Washington they will tour the Capitol Lincoln Memorial Mount Vernon Arlington Cemetery and the Washington Monument Congressman B B Cox of Camilla arranged passes and offered courtesy while Matthew J Connelly secretary to President Truman expressed regret at not meeting the Georgians on this trip a travel service guides group will also escort them in New York including a boat trip on the Hudson.
