In Williston North Dakota a father James F. Bannon and son Charles Bannon 22 were formally charged with first degree murder for the February slayings of Elbert Haven his wife and four children. Charles in jail confessed to the killings while the father awaits extradition from Oregon where he was arrested in Waldport. The prosecutor plans to Question the father about details in Charles confession.
The Labor Department reports a 2.5 percent drop in employment and a 5.1 percent fall in payroll totals from October for November, based on 41,525 firms. Bituminous coal mining and retail trade show gains while manufacturing employment and payrolls decline.
Cable from Madras reports former Hollywood actress Diane Ellis died in India. She had married Stephen C Millett in Paris two months earlier and the couple planned a honeymoon trip through India Egypt and Spain en route to Los Angeles. Her parents Mrs Walter Frank Ellis and Mr Ellis provided the cable details.
