Nobel laureate Frank B. Kellogg former U S secretary of state accepted the 1929 peace prize in Oslo in the king's presence. The ceremony noted Kellogg's work on the Kellogg Briand pact. Other Americans cited include Roosevelt Root Wilson Dawes and Sinclair Lewis.
The agriculture department reports the gap between farm sale prices and purchase costs at its widest since 1921. Among ten leading commodities, butter and potatoes stay above last month, while most prices remain below last year despite favorable supply, with November 1929 to 1930 comparisons listed for wheat cotton corn potatoes oats hay beef cattle and hogs.

New York December 10 Ben Lindsey plans to blame Bishop William Manning for last Sunday's disturbance. He will argue in his disorderly conduct defense that the bishop incited a riot in the cathedral of St John the Divine by slandering him from the pulpit. The bishop refused comment. Meanwhile Dr Bernard Bell resigned from the New York Churchmen's Association, accusing the group of bishop-baiting and calling Lindsey's views unscientific and journalistic.
Miss Marian Wright an 18 year old social debutante was targeted in an extortion attempt. William Kuhn 23 a clerk was arrested for sending threatening letters claiming poison darts and demanding 25000 dollars under threat to her or her father. Kuhn denied authorship and was bonded for court.
In a running engagement lasting twenty two hours and spanning sixty five miles of desert, Italian troops routed native tribesmen at Cufra and Tripoli. Forty attackers were killed and a number were taken prisoner.
Governor Franklin D Roosevelt leaves Newnan Georgia by auto to catch a train to New York City after vacation at Warm Springs. Bids for the Thomasville high school project were too high to meet the budget. Seven lowest bidders will confer on alternates and cuts to bring the project within the original allotment. The list includes John T. Ragan Co. and others, with base bids ranging from 97,200 to 113,600 dollars, while plumbing bids drew separate negotiations.

Three men robbed Peoples Bank in Stanton Tennessee today as an assistant cashier Dan Phillips was held up. One robber carried a sawed off shotgun. The bandits escaped with between $8 000 and $9 000.
Nashville Tenn Dec 10 D D Robertson state superintendent of banks receiver for the Liberty Bank and Trust Company filed suit in chancery court against Col Luke Lea and others seeking about 166000. Defendants include Luke Lea Jr R B Moseley E P Charlet National Investment Trust Union Property Company Central Properties Union Trust and J B Ramsey alleging Lea controlled the bank with the late president for two years.
Democrats led by Senator McKellar attack President Hoover for denouncing nonadministration relief bills while approving a 110 million public works appropriation. They accuse the president of playing politics with human misery and demand an apology, as the administration seeks quick action on the measure.
The 3110,000,000 unemployment appropriation was rushed to the Senate today with approval by the Appropriations Committee amid expectations of swift debate. The measure seeks funding to aid the unemployed and support relief programs through the next period.
