At close of business November 8 1925 Winthrop Trust Company shows liabilities totaling 2.0 million. Capital stands at 100000 with surplus and undivided earnings of 105011.87 and reserves for taxes and interest of 14772.93. Deposits amount to 2,454,672.21.
At the Winthrop Post No. 146 meeting at the Dugout on Hermon street the Nominating Committee’s slate was elected unanimously for the coming year. Francis L. Sheehan was named Commander with Louis Pierce as First Vice Commander and Alfred Silberberg as Second Vice Commander. Also elected were Thos. H. Fielding Adjutant Stanley A. Roberts Finance Officer George A. Pierce Chaplain Oliver Greene Historian Sgt Kadin Sergeant-at-Arms Henry McCarthy Frank Fortiss Rudolph Murray Anthony Monti Russell Younger Executive Committee. The Dugout, the new Legion home, is nearing completion and many members have contributed to the project.
The Turkey Day clash at Fort Banks on November 26 featured Winthrop defeating Revere 14 to 0 before 12,000 spectators. Leighton and Saunders starred for Winthrop with scoring drives and a strong defense, while Revere struggled amid fumbles and broken plays as the cold wind favored the winners.
