G H Russell Camp to Be Instituted Sunday
The George H Russell Camp Department at Massachusetts will be instituted at Elks Hall at 2:00 PM with a parade from Metcalf Square. Comrade Alexander Mitchell, Department Commander, will preside with a large staff and many comrades from U S W V circles. Nearly forty men have signed up and new recruits arrive weekly. Representative Hourahan is thanked for presenting a beautiful American flag for the Blockhouse flag pole. Attendance at Sunday church services neared 100 percent.

Local Veterans Observe Memorial Sunday at Congregational Church
In Winthrop fair weather fueled Memorial Sunday observances. Veterans from Civil War Spanish War World War and other conflicts gathered in Metcalf square to march to Union Congregational Church for services led by Rev. Henry J. Wharton. The program featured silent meditation hymns prayers a violin solo and an address followed by a Benediction and a return march.

History was made at the First Quarterly Conference on May 27 as plans from Frohman Robb Little for a new church were unanimously approved. A Boston contractor was chosen and work set to begin with a goal of finishing before snow flies. About $30,000 had been paid toward funds.

Senior High Girls Hold Gymnastics Demonstration
The annual Gymnastic Demonstration by Senior High School girls occurred Friday evening May 24 guided by Miss F Theresa Key with Miss Louise Murphy and Kathrine L Devereux at the piano. The program featured Sophomores Danish Gymnastics Juniors Bounding Balls Seniors dancing and a Junior volunteer group. a Seniors led eight girl group performed the Original Lanciers. The Juniors and Seniors basketball game ended with a Senior victory. Helen McCarthy presented bouquets to Key and Devereux on behalf of the Senior Class.
