Memorial Day Exercises Plan Parade and Speeches
Memorial Day events will be held Sunday and Thursday with a parade by local veteran groups including Civil War Spanish War American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. The parade forms at 8 45 a m near Edward B Newton School and proceeds to Winthrop Cemetery then to Metcalf Square for further ceremonies. A Sunday service is planned at Union Congregational Church Winthrop Beach with all town veteran organizations invited.

Salary Increase Passed Over Veto by Legislature

Navy officers state and town dignitaries will attend mothers of fallen soldiers will receive gold medals with General Edward L Logan presenting the awards. Town Meeting Grants Selectmen Authority To Lease Old Town Hall Site For Post Office
Town meeting authorized selectmen to lease the Old Town Hall site to the Post Office for a new building. A separate article to place three railroad lots at Centre Station in the Business Zone was defeated amid pleas from Representative Edgar Power and plans for a possible special town meeting to rescind the vote.
