Eastern Star Party Presents High Grade Program in Ellis Hall

The Colonial Chapter 96 C E B Scommittee announces a Friday evening entertain ment and dance in Ellis Hall. Featured are tenor John Ryley and pianologue artist Johnny Long, both noted on the Keith circuit, and reader Miss Florence Royal a Boston School of Dramatic Art graduate. Rangers Chart Day Meeting Updates and Tribute Plans

The Rangers held their annual Chart Day on March 26 at the Deane Winthrop House. President Miss Allen opened the meeting and the day focused on business, chart distribution, and dues. The first meeting will be at Mrs. Osborne's home on Winthrop Street.

Winthrop Visiting Nurse Assn. Kickoff Membership Drive

The annual membership drive runs March 23 to 31 with a house to house canvass. Funds raised support nurse salaries and materials for patient care. Last year nearly one third of calls were free. Members pay one dollar annually. the group seeks at least 2000 donors from Winthrop.

Saco man Alecos Hadirias held on baby cart incident

Early February report notes Alecos Hadirias of Saco Missouri arrested on Loringrd charge for pushing a baby go cart with an auto tire on his shoulders. He was held in 2000 dollars bail and later found insane and committed to the Danvers institution.

The Kocla Klub, a group of Winthrop women, hosts its annual whist next Tuesday evening at Legion Hall with Mrs Wm Harber Sr overseeing details and several prizes expected. Town Meeting Votes No Pay Increase in Winthrop

At a sparsely attended annual town meeting in the old high school 170 of 218 residents approved appropriations of 575580 dollars. Debate over police pay drew support for 38130.30 proposed, passage set at 31700.00, with current pay at 1825 rising toward 2025. The town elected a planning board and approved land sale to Winthrop Post 146 for 1 dollar. finish of the junior high school was noted and light committee appointments announced.

Deane Winthrop Chapter D A R Meets at Tasker Home

March gathering of the Deane Winthrop Chapter D A R at 16 Cottage Park Road was chaired by Mrs C L Reed with notices of the passing of member Mrs Caroline V Paul. Speakers recalled longtime service, a plan to buy an outside bag for the new Junior High, and plans for an April 14 meeting at the Deane Winthrop house. The Legion Auxiliary whist fundraisers support Welfare Fund for hospitalized ex servicemen with prizes awarded to many members.

Injury Halts Local Electrician From Work

Mr. Alfred D. Allen of Vineau suffered a severe strain to his hand and wrist after stepping on a small block. The injury will keep him from his electric work for at least a week.
