Vic MacLauchlan Found Dead From Gas Poisoning
Victor J MacLauchlan, 47, was found dead in a 16 Cora Street home after seven gas burners were left on. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, with Mrs McDonald and neighbor Mrs Kennedy discovering the scene and police and a medical examiner confirming gas poisoning. MacLauchlan worked in the railroad industry for over 25 years and was known to thousands of riders on the Branch.

Winthrop High Class of 1925 Diplomas Awarded
The Class of 1925 at Winthrop High School held a June 19 farewell in the Winthrop Theatre. 158 graduates received diplomas from School Committee Chairman Albert R. Stedfast and Principal Edward R. Clarke assisted. A life sized portrait of Supt. Frank A. Douglas, gifted by the Class, will adorn the new Junior High. Prizes totaled $10 gold pieces for various honors, awarded by teachers and clubs, with Betty Kilbourne among the top girls.
