The Winthrop Trust Company reports liabilities totaling 391,660.72 and assets of 1,112,666.92 as of June 11 1920. It notes a new building to be ready in August with larger public space private meeting rooms and a president’s private room to attract customers and boost deposits past 1,000,000.00.
On July 5 at 8:30 pm Fort Banks hosts a outdoor pageant titled 1920 Faith in America by the Winthrop Pageant Association to raise funds for the Army Relief Fund. Col James F Howell is honorary president and Harry E Wright heads the board. The production includes 660 participants and elaborate lighting by D E Cogan with seven episodes and about 30 features led by Ruth Walsh Ruth Richards George Cronenwett Ellamae Flynn G Wallace Tibbetts Christine Paterson. On Sunday evening June 13 employees of William H Fielding honored him with a farewell party at his Chester Avenue home. Fielding, a well known figure in local business, is stepping down from his longtime post.
Winthrop Lodge of Elks marked Flag Day with a 2 PM parade from Pleasant and Marnsts led by William Curran and Col James Howell. Fort Banks regulars carried 10 foot poles with silver spear heads and bunting flags. Hon James M Curley gave a strong oration, Maude K Murray won applause, and Ives Band performed a varied program at the Elk hall.
