Citizens postpone vacations to witness Winthrop Pageant at Fort Banks on July Fifth. Promoters urge buying tickets now to avoid missed invitation and chorus of remorse. A Boston band promises special music for the open air event. Mr Burns and associates draw attention alongside the full size poster by John Whart.
Winthrop Lodge Elks will hold Flag Day exercises at Winthrop Theatre on Sunday June 13 at 3 o'clock. Residents and visitors are invited to attend. Ives' band and orchestra and the Beethoven Quartet will perform patriotic selections. Hon. James M. Curley will be the patriotic orator. The parade will start at 2 30 from Main and Pleasant streets and move to the theatre where Ives' Band will play outside.
Lieutenant Clarence J. McKenzie of 11 Emerson Road was unanimously elected captain of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company for the year ending June 1921. The drum head election on Boston Common conferred the new honors on McKenzie.
Edward G Richardson was advanced in the Highlands veterans group as Captain McKenzie was elected with unanimous support. The tribute honors a modest, diligent man whose long service earned broad respect among hundreds of associates.
