Thieves Take Items From Sloop Near Winthrop

William H. Wincapaw a familiar New England figure known as the flying Santa Claus had his sloop cabin broken into off Winthrop. Thieves stole a 12 inch liquid compass in a mahogany box running lights and rope valued at 214 dollars. Police were alerted but no trace was found.

Plan Installation For New Officers Of Jewish Civic League

Reservations for the installation and banquet of the Jewish Civic League of Winthrop have been coming in in large numbers. The event is set for June 24 at the Cliff House with Maurice M. Goldman as installing officer. Lieutenant Governor Francis E. Kelley and State Senator Bernard Sullivan will speak. Annual Zam B ola Successful Event

A large crowd of visiting yachts men, members, friends and residents marked the Zam-Bola at Pleasant Park Yacht Club. Commodore Hamilton and his crew presented a fine program of entertainment with crowd work and features for all. Commodore Hamilton extends appreciation to all who assisted in making the Zam-Bola a success.

Two hundred thirty four seniors received diplomas at a Winthrop High School graduation in the Winthrop Theatre last Friday. Principal Arthur B. Four Winthrop scouts join Camp Powow staff at Amesbury Massachusetts from July 12 to August 23. Exaggerated Reports On Winthrop Hugger Questioned

Chief of Police William F. Pumphret says stories of a mysterious hugger attacking women are largely exaggerated and unfounded. He notes three complaints from a month ago about non injurious incidents. suspects were released after victims could not identify them. No additional attacks are on record according to the police.
