Senior Class Day exercises were held Tuesday afternoon June 13 at 2 30 p m in the Winthrop Theatre. Prohibition Repeal Wins In Local Election With Wet Vote
In Tuesday’s local election 2445 voted for repeal of the eighteenth amendment and 144 against. The town favored wine and malt beverages by 2171 to 657. Turnout was about 40 percent with 3215 ballots cast of 8678 registered. Precincts showed clear divisions with Highlands voting for repeal and Precinct 5 remaining dry. Overall results suggest a shift away from prohibition in recent years.
