Winthrop High to graduate largest class in school history
The Class of 1939 at Winthrop High School, numbering 266, will hold graduation exercises at 8:30 p.m. in Miller Field Stadium. Class Day ceremonies were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Winthrop Theatre with a full program of music, speeches, and performances.

The St Johns Guild held its annual meeting at St Johns Episcopal Parish House on Wednesday. Officers elected for the coming year include President Mrs Helen Letson and 1st Vice President Mrs Bertha Pierce with other officers and committee chairs named. The retiring president Mrs Ina Williams received a silver teapot and bouquet as thanks. Meetings will resume in September.

Committee Named To Study Town Salaries This Week
A seven member committee to study all town salaries and wages was named this week following March town meeting action. Members include Jessie Dollott Nellie Griffin T Hetherington Agnes Larkin Harold Turner William Walpole and John Williams. The panel will report to a special town meeting before December 31 1939 with proposed salary scales and minimum maximum wage levels for all town employees.
