Pigon Named Town Accountant After Crowell's Death
Albert L Pigon of Chester Avenue was appointed temporary town accountant by the Board of Selectmen to fill the vacancy created by the death of I W Crowell. The appointment is indefinite. Pigon has served as town accountant for two years and led the office for six months. He was formerly assistant treasurer at Marstons Restaurants and is a World War veteran and member of Winthrop Post No 146 American Legion.

Special Town Meeting Planned By Board of Selectmen

Gerald Sonny O Neill aged 12 of Taylor Street Winthrop drowned Wednesday afternoon in the Glory Hole near Battery station Winthrop. He slipped from a rubber tube as companions shouted for help and could not be saved despite a rescue effort before Hardy Underwood rescued the body with medical aid arriving from police and fire units.
