Funeral services for Charles Payson Floyd were held Friday afternoon at 2 30 at the First Baptist Church. Floyd, a lifelong resident of the town, was born in Winthrop on May 30 1865, to Payson and Abbie Allen Floyd. Continued on Page 5.
Mrs Catherine J McQuade Sullivan aged 87 longtime Winthrop resident died July 12 at Winthrop Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was widow of John T Sullivan born in Hartford Conn and lived in Winthrop 37 years at daughter Mrs Joseph Bradley's Dolphin Ave home. She leaves son Dr John T Sullivan 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Friday at 9 a m St John Evangelist Church with high mass and burial in Winthrop Cemetery.

Four Winthrop boys earned letters at Groton Camp on New Found Lake this summer among ten campers’ letters. The recipients were Robert Dunlop, Richard Stevenson, Robert Fisher, and James Kirkpatrick. Stevenson won the ping pong championship and Dunlop the watch for best all round camper. This marks the highest average of awards for St. John’s Episcopal Parish at Groton.
