Governor urges action to save Winthrop rail link
After a morning conference at the State House Governor Leverett Saltonstall sent a bill to acquire the Winthrop branch of the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn railroad by the Boston Elevated Railway. He asked the Legislature to approve funds totaling 1 160 418 by issuing additional bonds and to allow 420 812 for track broad gauging and 395 000 for purchase, citing possible cessation of transportation services on October 1.
